Athens, Acropolis of Athens

Alexandria Illa

The Acropolis of Athens was built in the mid 5th century BC. The acropolis was built under the leadership of Pericles, a Greek polititian, during 460BC-430BC. It was built for the goddess Athena , and because it was the highest city in Greece. Its is located on a flat top topped rock that is 150m above sea level and a surface area of 7.4 acres. Some interesting facts about the acropolis is that some Athenians buried artifacts in caves and walls around there. They did this to protect them from the Persians. Restorations of the acropolis have been going on since the 1900s. Lastly some famous people connected to this landmark are those I have said beofre, Pericles and Athena.
