The Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights

The Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights is a medieval castle in the city of Rhodes. The castle was built in the 14th century by the Knights of Rhodes. Some parts of this castle was damaged by an ammunition explosion in 1865 but, was later restored by the Italian architect Vittorio Mesturio between 1937 and 1940. It was made into a holiday residence for the king of Italy, Victor Emmanuel III. Near the entrance there is a large plaque with the name of the fascist dictator, Benito Mussolini. That is some of the background history on The Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights.
